Holland, MI History

Holland was originally settled in 1847 by a couple of Dutchman fleeing persecution of the oppressive Netherlands. Holland reputation as "the City of Churches" started early, as one of its first settlers was a spiritual leader and established a spiritual foundation early. Twenty years after the territory was first settled it was incorporated as a city, and Isaac Cappon was the first mayor in 1867.
